The Majestic Drakensberg & Lesotho
This tour can commence from Johannesburg or Durban:
Day 1: Drakensberg Mountains - After an early start, head towards the mountains stopping off at the most beautiful spot amid these ‘dragon’ peaks, the World Heritage Site of Giants Castle. Enjoy the stunning scenery and fresh mountain air. Two nights will be spent in a mountain resort hotel.
Day 2: Drakensberg Mountains – after breakfast set off on a 3 kilometre roundtrip hike to the caves. Enjoy a guided tour of the rock paintings. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or take advantage of the many activities the resort has to offer.
Day 3: Sani Pass – Leave early in the morning and head south towards the village of Underberg at the foot of the mountains. Transfer to 4x4 vehicles and begin climbing the highest vehicle pass in Southern Africa. The views from the Sani Pass are utterly spectacular. At he top is the border post between South Africa and Lesotho. Once inside Lesotho, visit a Sotho tribal village and meet the locals before enjoying lunch at the highest pub in Africa! Journey back to the base of the mountains and spend the night at a Sani Pass hotel.
Day 4: Midlands – After breakfast, start the journey back via the quaint art and craft stores and farmers markets of the Midlands Meander Route
And heading back to your starting point.
